10 years ago, the Rock Shox SID made its debut. The earth moved, but the SID-equipped bike remained stable. After years of refinement, the fork went about as far as it could go with its design. 10 years later, Rock Shox is debuting a new SID. The SID is dead. Long live the SID.
RockShox BoXXer Race Coil Forks (2010) # Travel: 200mm # Travel Adjustments: All-Travel
Freeride’s strongest performing fork just got some serious upgrades. With 180mm of travel on a 2-Step, Solo Air or Coil spring, 1 1/8”, 1.5” or tapered steerer and huge 40mm uppers, the Totem is a battle-axe that lets you charge into (or off of) any terrain, from tire-buzzing steeps to pucker inducing drops.

Model : Fox 40 RC2 Suspension Fork 2010 Steerer - 1-1/8th -Standard; Spring - Titanium Spring Damping - FIT Travel : 8" - 203mm
The new-for-2010 FIT Damping system appears to perform well. I compared the ride of this fork to my 2009 Fox 32 Float and I did notice a slightly smoother ride overall, but since I didn’t do a head-to-head on the same bike, it’s hard to say so definitively.
RockShox’s Recon 351 fork is as reliable as its brothers, although weight suffers in this imported long-travel version.
R iders on 5-6in travel trail bikes want a bottomless, long-travel feel on a fork that still has the poise and panache of shorter, cross-country orientated models. That’s where RockShox’s Revelation sits.
In standard trim, the Reba and Recon are pretty much indistinguishable. What Reba adds over Recon, though, is the ability to alter the blow-off pressure needed to overcome the manual lockout operation via the gold ‘Floodgate’ dial.
Rockshox cross-country fork for people who demand reliability and strength as well as an ultra-lightweight race fork. The Recon will see you through endless days in the saddle without worry. With adjustable travel (80-100mm) Motion Control and Poploc lockout making this one versatile fork.
Manitou’s Minute fork has had a long and variable history, and this new version promises to strip it back to its original strengths.
Can you imagine yourself breaking into an involuntary grin the moment you spot an approaching climb? If not, start by picturing an R7 on your bike. We gave the R7 an air spring, an aluminum steerer, and a hollow crown so that the next time the trail starts to point upwards, so will the corners of your mouth.
The Drake Comp sets a new standard in value and reliability among trail forks. The same legs and casting used on the Minute provide World-Cup level steering precision, while the FFD damper delivers control and reliability. And nothing beats a coil spring for ultimate plushness.
